More user friendly interface. Any more shortcut keys. Accessing script editor is a pain. I go through alot of buttons just to edit my script!

edit:
@chai:
Nice pixeling, except that you need to make the whole body moves and the legs are in place if she is a fighter. Waving her something doesn't make her a fighter, but a... I dunno.

There is some other request about scripts.
The next versions will have a more direct access to scripts

Sure, glad you asked =)

If I want to make a title screen, a game screen and whatever screen, I'll need to manipulate that in a lower language level style. Everyone would prefer the idea of rooms which devide the effort. That was a great idea Click team (i.e. Mutimedia fusion & Click&Create) has come up with.

Another hard thing is putting the ground, the enemies, the other background pictures and all other objects. There is no way of doing that unless I am going to go through alot of clonning trouble. Level design is realy hard in this program unless I am going to use arrays.

Simply, add rooms and a quick way of adding actors in big numbers.
You realy should've checked the click team program. Or maybe just download the free gamemaker which copies the same concepts.

Sorry for the long post

edit:
Also, loading files is a pain. It is not in the usual windows way. It needs time to get used to it.

Anyway, I am still new to GameEditor, so I might not be of much help until I get used to it more.

On the topic of level design, and placing actors, what I would really like to see is the ability to add offsets to the inifinte actors. This would be similar to the spacing on arrayed actors.

My ideas for the next GE:

- Be able to make Palm & Mac apps.
- Be able to import movies to make cutscenes & stuff.
- Convert to Flash (.swf) and/or Java (.jar, .class, .java) apps.
- OPEN SOURCE!!!!! I've always wanted to get my hands on some game editor source code!

That's pretty much it. Thanx for the wonderful program, Makslane.

thought to chip in

Postby wickedsunny » Wed Jul 06, 2005 5:07 am

hi sir

well i had already told you about web based games, rpg and multiplayer, it will gv a boost to ge and leave game makers and other softwares behind.

i have game maker too and i know how horrible it is, because everything is ready made , no programming needed hence no challenge.

if you come out with web java based , it will take take you another version to come out with mobile ones so that will be even better.

2nd player is already possible you just ahve to find out that performance solution for that problem i sent you or get an alltogetehr 2nd view.

you and GE will be rocking in coming months 8)
game creation thrives on chaos & unpredictable imagination- hence i lure on the edge of chaos.

Something about rooms

Postby willg101 » Wed Jul 06, 2005 4:11 pm

I personally would hate to see GE go to the room idea! :(

Tablet PC inking support

Postby Just4Fun » Thu Jul 07, 2005 4:27 pm

Tablet PC inking support. That way you'd have every MS OS covered. I shouldn't be too difficult to add since the Tablet system is actually Windows Pro with the inking capabilities added. Tablets are becoming more main stream. There are now at least 35 large companies producing them: Compaq/HP, Toshiba, Fujitsu...

Anyway, I'd sure enjoy creating little things for my tablet pc.

Of course, in your spare time, Palm and Mac support would be nice too!
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I'd like to see the ability to set seed values for the rand function, so that certain sequences can be repeated. This would help reduce game sizes by allowing creators to generate actors and map features from a seed. Currently, it can be done by hand...

Interesting idea. I like the idea of randomly (semi) generated maps.
Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming.

Hmm....
Shopping List as follows:

-If it does not already have this function: use an image file as an entire level (along with additional collision maps and other nifty goodies) Any file format would be useful, like jpegs.

-make the file browser like that of Win XP.

-RPG support sounds intrigueging, please do.

-actor rotation and scale seems like a definite plus.

-I don't know if this is implimented, but the ability to have an actor in sections. Example: if a flying a robot around and an arm is hit specifically, just the arm blows of if it loses all it's health. If a star ship has multiple shields (one for each side) then only the shield that is hit takes damage and then either phases out or regenerates health. If shields or armor gone, then the ship starts to take damage to it's parts that are hit.

Modular actors could possibly open the way to in game player customization.

-Multiplayer support would be nifty. Over a network would be good too.

-If it doesn't have it already, I wouldn't mind being able to split a game up into muliple levels or missions or stages within the same game.

There you go. Plenty to do.
Have fun!

Yes, you can use one single image as an level. There is no problem.

make the file browser like that of Win XP.

Yes, in the next version

In my task list

actor rotation and scale seems like a definite plus.

Sure!

I think you can make this by parent actors and using Activation Events

In my task list.

You have two options to make multilevel games:
1) Save one level in your ged file and use the LoadGame function
2) Make all levels in one ged and use Activation Regions to define the levels
