So, here is my example (I still have good eyesight
).
I've tried several game-engines (I've even done a pretty good part of a job on my game with
the game-maker), but I've decided for the Game-editor.
The greatest problems with the Game-maker is that the game you make demands a lot of resources
and you mostly have to do miracles because your pointer jumps, and it does not go fluently, exe
is too big (load time) and so on...
You will start fast with the Game maker, but you won't get far as with GE.
The games made with the Game-editor look better than the ones made with the GM. It speaks
for itself.
I've even worked with a java-engine (it works great), but I don't like it since it is quite
expensive to make exe cca $250 out of jar. Java distribution is OK only for the web or osx games.
The only negative thing with the Game-editor is web or online playing. But I'm not even close
to make some big multi-player games. And with the Game-editor I gained the growing LINUX market, and I could even make a PPC game which is now certainly the most wanted mobile os. The thing is that
the palm now sells its handhelds based on the Windows Os.
