Game: Catch the coins (v0.3)

Postby tvz » Mon May 12, 2014 9:51 am

Hello
I made a simple game. You have to collect the coins in 60 seconds by clicking the them. they appear randomly in boxes. if you miss, you loose a 'move' . There are three levels in this game
Bug reports and suggestions are always welcome

Hi!

Pretty nice, simple game.
I didn't notice any bugs. But I do have some suggestions for development.

1. What about allowing to use numpad? The boxes are already placed just like the number keys on numpad, so it could work pretty well. You could make it have two different play modes, one for numpad, one for mouse. I would like to train my numpad using with this :D I also don't like using the mouse in general and that's why I would love being able to play this on keyboard
2. Add highscore lists, at least local ones. You'd of course have to have a different list for each difficulty as well as different list for each play mode, if you were to implement the numpad idea. But that would be nice so I wouldn't have to remember my highscore in order to see if I could do better.
3. Maybe add some sound effects and music?
4. More colors, perhaps? And in general, something more to look at, visual effects and background images, etc.

But yeah, nice game and well done, it works like a charm without lagging and as said, I didn't notice any bugs.

A very nice update!
The game is now already at least 10x better than the first version! Addicting!
Also, well planned with the 'move' loosing thing, otherwise one could just spam the numpad buttons, now doing that results in the worst score ever (like 5 or something XD).

Did you make the graphics or where are they from? Anyway, they are really nice and fit perfectly to the game! As does the music, too. DST makes good songs.
Also, a brilliant idea to replace the sound effect of catching a coin with a graphical effect. Especially with a music already playing on the background the sound effects would have possibly sounded bad.
And still, no bugs noticed, so very well done!

My highscore so far (with the "Player" level, the easiest one): 111
Someone try to beat that! :D

So yeah, a very good update a lot of great new additions to the game.
I still have some requests/ideas that might be of help for future development.

1. Make the music not start over every time you take another try, I'd like to be able to listen to the song without interrupts.
2. This

3. Make the game save actual lists of high scores, maybe like 10 for each level? With names
4. I thought I had more but maybe I didn't after all

Good work, keep it up!

thankyou very much for your positive feedback. i am glad you like it :D
lcl wrote:Did you make the graphics or where are they from?

The container at the back is my own, made in gimp. the coin is from google images and that effect animations is taken from spriters-resources.com

lcl wrote:1. Make the music not start over every time you take another try, I'd like to be able to listen to the song without interrupts.

done that

2.
Centered all of them :D

lcl wrote:3. Make the game save actual lists of high scores, maybe like 10 for each level? With names

i dont know how to save names and levels to a list and then load them. :(
You will see a different type of game (in few days) based on this strategy.

And for score, mine is only 101. lOl (both lOl and 101 look same. XD lol)

Yep. Your game crashes when you leave it on the game over screen for a while.

The game actually does crash if you let the music play until the end of the song while on the game over screen.
