Poke'Mon style walking physics

Is it possible? and How do would you do it?

In case you haven't played Poke'Mon before(Which I'm pretty sure EVERY body has haha) You can only walk Left, Right, Up, Or Down. I've been trying to figure it out but haven't been able to yet.

Has/Can anyone else?
