Icons - Marketplace

Postby OmniArts » Thu Oct 29, 2009 4:12 am

Hi
Sorry to bring up yet another Issue regarding the Marketplace, as it seems we are only getting over the "phone first" problem.
But it seems it is a requirement to have Icons set as the following for Windows Mobile...

Makslane, do you know of anyway you could implement multiple icons?
Or does anyone know a workaround? one option I guess would be to open up the .exe using other software to implement these icons..

Once again, sorry to bring up another issue!

I'm not sure how embedded the png resource icon into the executable and make it compatible with early windows mobile (Pocket PC) versions.

I've read some pages and I've found the PNG icon doesn't needs to be embedded the executable file.
You can just point to the PNG file path in your setup.
I've updated the other icon sizes on the engine.

microsoft is getting a little ridiculous in its request or iam understanding it wrong. Here is my understanding when someone downloads the game
1)it goes to where ever the buyer wants it phone or storage memory
2)also they want an icon in the start screen?
hopefully iam understanding it wrong because i never had a game that did that. That honestly would be silly because if the persons downlaods alot of stuff thier start screen would look very silly. The paint program i use is GIMP its freeware and exports any type of file u want.If u dont use it try it.peace

Yeah I use a photoshop,

But anyway, I have Icons now working on Windows Mobile 6.5, with shortcuts being stored in "Games" on the Start Screen.
Relatively simple to get an icon into the Start Menu, there's just not too much documentation on it.

I suppose this a count down, lol I will be submitting my app to the marketplace in the next 24 hours! :D

Dear Omniarts;

could you please help me to have a bigger picture of multi icons issue for WM6.5?
Where can I combine other sizes of icons in GE?
or I have to combine various sizes of icons when I make a cab file.

Thank you

Using PPC Install creator you can select the icon for the start menu/games
set your start menu item for %CE14% (start menu/program files/games) and below it upload your icon using the correct configuration.

So you dont actual embed the icon in the file.. only in the CAB

To store several images in 1 .Ico file, I use the photoshop Icon plugin. Every time I save, I overwrite my icon.ico file and it adds an extra image into it.

If you have any more troubles let me know,
