I just bought GE...

Postby vem0m » Wed Jan 06, 2010 5:30 am

I bought this just now hoping to use it in Linux to make Linux games. I got a download for a windows version and I see no way to register my copy of 1.3.9 or the compiled version I compiled myself in linux, please help by providing a full non restricted linux version to me or how I can activate mine... Thanks!

I sent a PM with the same thing but some admins and such of some sites get too many of those and ignore them so I though I would post here.

Thank you for support Game Editor.
Currently, only the windows have the full version of Game Editor.

You can compile the full linux version or get it on the net:

I have no clue what version that is though. Is there anyway you could PM me with how to modify the source I have to make mine full?

Seeing as there is no Linux version I need to request a refund. I am unsure what email address to ask this to so I am doing this on the forum.

I also have seen that very little has been done in the last 2-3 years with this program in terms of development. Please refund my money, if development picks up and there is a Linux version in the future I will buy it again then. 95 USD is a bit much for a non updated program that was stated to have a Linux version when it does not.

Maybe I didn't understand you but so you know there is the equivalent of a pro version for Linux, I know this as I have it. It allows all of the same features as the pro version for windows, as I also have that one. The only difference is that you need to have bought the pro version, albeit for windows, to sell games, even if you are using the Linux version that allows cross platform exporting... The link in makslane's post will point you in the right way for the 'pro' Linux version, all the features of the windows version. Buying gameEditor now is really for liscence to sell games, as the source code is available for anyone who wishes to compile it.

I understand that, but as this was not made by him, and he does not make a PRO version for Linux. There is no OFFICIAL Linux version. The source has been updated a little since the 1.3.9 release in '07 but not much to even matter. However, the fact lies without it being actively developed, and the fact there is no OFFICIAL pro version for Linux then I am requesting a refund.

Thank you, if you ever make a Linux Pro edition and further progress, I should return.
