Compilers we would like to see

Postby foleyjo » Thu Jun 12, 2014 8:38 am

To be respectful to Bat I've made a new thread for compilers we would like to see added to GE.

It's more or a what if thread than a someone do it thread.

Don't be scared of suggesting your fave console but try to back it up with the pro's and cons of having your suggested compiler and say why you would like it.

People in the know feel free to say the reality of it happening. Not based on the dev team but on the power of the suggested system and the difficulty in porting the code.
ie: If I suggested Commodore 64 you could say not possible because a C64 would be too slow to deal with the game.

Work on the theory that no idea is stupid, and what you might find is that one or two are possible. (I dunno but maybe dreamcast might be possible as it uses a version of windows in it. (I SAID I DUNNO))

I'll start.

Android and HTML 5- Because people use these already and blah blah what I already said in that other thread

What about having Game Boy Advance export? I mean there is a large community of Game Boy Advance Homebrewers and if we could attract them we could have a field day!

Pros: I mean the Game Boy Advance is 32 bit and most computers (until recently) are 32 bit.
And it has simple hardware which will make it easier to emulate (and possibly develop for).

Cons: the sound quality might be a little not as good as the sound quality of the iPhone, and it has a lowish resolution which may irritate some.

I wasn't aware GBA Homebrew was a big thing. How do you get homebrew on them? Is it a cartridge with an adapter?

You can get Game Boy Advance Flashkarts, a flashkart is basically shaped like a GBA Cartrige but you can put an SD card with you game in it. And here's a homebrew site http://gbadev.org.

I always wanted an Amiga compiler. I remember Makslane saying that he thought it would be possible if someone would develop it, however when I asked on the Amiga forums they said the Amiga would not be powerful enough to handle the games.

Would have been nice though as the games I've seen on GE remind me of Amiga games

It was a computer and it was sort of in the 90's and it was rivaling the Comador 64.

That about sums it up.

It's more of a next gen machine than a rival to C64.

Got some of the best games around.

Anyway nice to chat with you but I don't find this place very welcoming so I'm off to see what else is out there in game development world

Actually I think you just popped in at an unlucky time I mean there was like a war going on between two young forum members.

I'm 16 though.
