yes, I finally finished... Here is my entry for the August tournament...

Game Title: Dark and Dead

Idea: Inspired by the game Left 4 Dead. A simple and enjoyable zombie shoot out.

Characters: Enzo

Story:
Enzo found himself in the middle of a zombie infested town. His town. He heard a voice from a radio that there will be a helicopter that will roam the area and that any survivors need to find an open space. There's only one in this town and that is the park on the east side of town.

Survival Mode:
If you unlocked the survival mode you will get achievements by surviving as long as you can.

Credits:
some of the graphics are not made by me.

The zombie and main character sprite is from Riley: http://gfxpax.blogspot.co.uk/
The cars are from GTA.
Trees and buildings from free clip art on google.
Thanks to DST for the sprite rotator.
Sound Bible for the zombie sfx.
Survival mode voice sfx from DotA. :)

Well, there was an intense moment at the end. Graphics were awesome, so you won't much, if any at all, points in that. Overall good in this game except one pet peeve. It was way too hard to die. I mean I had to purposely get myself to die just to die. At the end, I can just keep making circles over and over and never get hit until the helicopter comes. Also, there was something in the survival mode. I saw a GE pac-man somewhere in that area. Is that a Easter Egg or something. It did nothing. Game-play will be what hurts your score the most (not saying it was bad, just what you are going to get least points from me).

oooh.. I knew it... I knew i'm gonna get it on the difficulty setting and the game play elements... hehehe...:) I lowered the difficulty thinking it was gonna be good but anyways thanks because of the contest I have more clear understanding on how to make top down shooters... hehe... I'm going to be on the next one too... so put me on the list for next month... :D

well, that is great to hear, unless something bad happens, I should be there too. Well, this was a good game, just too easy. And I said that you will get the least points in game-play, but I never said if that is low or high points. :)

Wow! I almost didn't want to stop playing! I finally found the flare but died... I got interested in a corner for what ever reason and uh... that was that.

Pros:
The lighting! Fantastic! The lightning, the flashlight, everything is amazing as far as the lighting goes. A fun feature to add would be a light effect when you shoot a gun but that could cause seizures xD. This game is fantastic all together, and with a little more "sparks flying" and polished up graphics, this game could EASILLY make it on the market

Cons:
The collision system still uses the good ol' fassioned "Physical Response" I see. :) When colliding into a vehicle next to a wall the screen spazzes out. Also I like the sound effects of the zombies when you defeat them, but I think they should also have maybe 2 or 3 other sounds that play randomly to make it more unexpecting.

Overall:
Fantastic. I really think you should keep working on this. It can sell.

That's really really cool of you Hblade... :D thank you for that video...

by the way I should have mentioned this on the opening post, there's a boss zombie on the survival mode and achievements are met the longer you play through the survival mode...

I do plan to continue this on a slower pace though... I have some features and gameplay elements I want to add... Thanks again... :) :D

Oh my gosh. I played it again today, since today was the day to play it, and it was a whole lot more fun today for some reason. Also in survival mode, when the background suddenly said monster kill, I jumped all the time, and I am still wondering about that GE pac-man in a corner of the survival mode, what is it? Great game. :D

At the begining I searched for medipacks all the time.But later I was Rambo nothing could stop me then XD
I really like this game.
Creepers are capable of climbing ladders, despite lacking arms. (Minecraft wiki)
