Music skipping.

Postby BloodRedDragon » Fri Mar 27, 2009 10:38 pm

I am currently attempting to make a music game with GE but every time i try to play a simple song in 22050 Hz it always skips and jumps! AARRRRGH!    I could change the audio quality down to 11025 Hz but it would be awful quality considering its a music game. Am i not doing it right or is GE clearly not advanced enough to make a guitar hero style music game? :?:

to me personally xp is better, and i dont the OS matters with music skipping, it's your sound card (maybe) or some other problem, but sound has nothing to do with OS :D
Working on a probably too ambitious project! Wild-west-adventure-RPG-shooter-thing.

My music always runs smoothly (not considering small gaps between loops).
How many music/sound files would you be running simultaneously?

Now that is interesting. C was developed for the Unix operating system, so perhaps it might perform better on linux.

I wish i knew of a fix for this, but sound libraries are actually more difficult than most people think, especially when we're used to sound from media player or winamp which usually isn't running an ENTIRE GAME at the same time.

The best solution so far is still to use highly compressed .ogg's for music; though, i am surprised that Blood was having problems at 22khz, because that's what i usually set it to when i want to make it STOP skipping!
It's easier to be clever than it is to be kind.
