I think Mario and Link are at the top of the demo too. I was glad to see that Mario's FLUDD is way better than it used to be, but I think Dr. Mario's gonna be the winner there, since instead of the FLUDD he has the tornado spin. Much better for recovery, armor, and damage. Even if the pill is worse than the fireball, fireball's not that good in the first place.
Villager has some hope, he's a weird one to play. He can't short hop into aerial attacks (he's too floaty!) and he has no launch potential in the air, which is poor. I think the key with villager is to try to keep his tree up at all times, because then his Down Special turns into the axe swing, that thing is super fast, high launch power, and pretty good damage (~13%), and he can use it in the air, helping his air game. Basically threaten them with side specials until you have a tree up, then harass them with the axe.
I can't say the same with Megaman, though. His side tilts (running standard attacks) are really good for getting in close, but you can't combo anything off of them, making it just... dangerous for Megaman. I don't think he's going to be -that- good in the future, maybe mid-high tier, but his side smashes on the ground are really good and he has a good air game (that up air is awesome). In general he seems to be the best against opponents that are in the air more. He'll probably suck versus little mac (especially cause mac has the jump slam that could go over his standard shots).
Pikachu is my bottom too, he doesn't seem to be good at all.
EDIT:
Also I really like that the Level 9 CPU seem to be a -lot- smarter now. Attacking over edges, using some combos, backward aerial attacks. I find myself having a lot of fun with Link vs Lvl 9 Link matches.
