I played your game, and here's some feedback about it:
Good things:
- I like the basic idea of the game, somehow it was funny to play despite the bugs that I encountered.
- The level with the sniping with the crosshair was nice.
- Also the sniping training was hilarious, I was shooting like Rambo into every direction and that was called sniping.
- You have added a story and some cutscenes to the game, they really add to the feel of the game.
Things that need improving:
- I think the levels were planned a little bad, sometimes it was almost impossible to go through the obstacles because the player was too big to go to some places.
- The movement of the character could be improved, now there is moonwalking and the controls don't feel good to play overall.
- I accidentally skipped some of the cutscenes because I was still beating up the spacebar to survive from the previous level, you should make this avoidable
in the next game you make. You could for example make the cutscenes run based on timers.
- It would be really good to be able to continue from the level where you died. I did not have enough patience to start the game always over again, but instead ended up cheating
by dragging the level .dat -files on to the .exe to be able to replay the level I died at. (You could use saveVars and loadVars to save what level the player has laready reached.)
- The random images about game editor in the beginning, the loading screens and the credits were a little confusing.
- Well, I think you already knew that your graphics are not all that great. Do you know anyone who could work on the graphics for you?
It would be nice to see some background graphics instead of a steady color, too.
Overall I want to say that this game clearly shows that you have improved as a GE user. All you need now is some patience.
Patience to concentrate on your game more and to test it properly (so that you notice what problems there are, like the cutscene skipping and the somewhat bad level design).
Don't be afraid to spend much time on a single game. For me, my first game (Dimension 55355, can be found from the Game Demos -section) took months to make, but as a result
I had (almost
) bug free and playable game with 30 levels.
Don't be afraid to ask help on how to implement some things into your game, there always is people who want to help you, so take all the help you can get!
I hope that you understand the purpose of my feedback. The purpose is help you by telling you what things I liked in the game and what things you should pay attention to when making your next game.
EDIT: Also would be nice to be able to use the mouse for shooting in the level with the crosshair. =)
