This will be the official fourth tournament, hopefully third that has a competitor, and more hopeful for a second award ceremony. I will say our former winners of the past months.
For the month of April, skydereign won with xball, will HBlade getting second with Adventure Pong, and the theme was Pong.
For the month of May, tzoli won with Extreme Pac-Man, and the theme was Pac-Man.
For the month of June, nobody entered, but the theme was birthday.
For the month of July, I decided to completely cancel this tournament.
Now it is the month of August, and I decided to start the tournament back up. I let the community of GE pick as a present I promised for July. The community picked Darkness with a lot more votes than the other themes. For all the people that picked another theme, don't worry, I will let you guys pick the September theme out of the ones that got a vote excluding Darkness. This is actually one of my most favorite themes and I hope people make games for it because, to me, it sounds interesting.
There is one rule. All judges can enter except the master judge. The thing is, judges can't judge their own game. Instead, the master judge will have to look at points percentage wise. Like if there are two judges, and one of the judges is a competitor. Say the master judge gives him a 15/30, that would be 50%, while another may have 45/60, that would be 75%. Unless no judges enter, this is a new responsibility for the master judge.
The grading rubric is the same as the previous tournament's rubric:
theme-x/10 (Does it follow the basic principles of the theme)
originality- x/10 (Is this a new idea, or is it the same as the others.)
creativity- x/10 (Were elements added that enhanced the game-play.)
game-play- x/10 (Is the game fun, have barely any bugs, and make you want to play it.)
graphics- x/10 (Only grade graphics the game creator made him/herself. Are they appealing. Do they draw you in.)
music/sound- x/5 (Did they pick sound and music that go along with the game's game-play and pace.)
overall- x/20 (How in general, do you feel the game was.)
Total Score- x/75 points (Add up the above elements to get total score.)
Judges Total- x/75j points (j= amount of judges judging that game.)
Bonus- Creepiness (How creepy it is.)
Judges Bonus Total- x-10j points
As mentioned in last tournament, bonus is just a tie-breaker so it doesn't add with total score. That means if player has 75 points and ten bonus points, he does not have 85 points, if two people have same total score, use bonus to break tie, and if there is still a tie, it is up to the master judge to decide how tie will be called.
You may submit already made games or games you make during the tournament's time. The deadline is August 21st. Judge week will be August 22nd to August 28th. Winners will be announced 29th through 30th. Do not tell any participants their score at all unless asked after winners are announced and do not tell who won until The August award ceremony. Do not judge until judge week. The award ceremony date is subject to change.
If you would like to become a judge, then please pm me, tell me on this topic, or if you see me on chat and tell me there.
Next tournament will start September 2nd.
Have Fun, and get started now!
