Another Much-Needed Feature

Ideas for Game Editor evolution.

Another Much-Needed Feature

Postby willg101 » Thu Feb 24, 2005 1:44 am

I don't know if someone's already requested this, but an autosave feature would really help. Earlier this night GE crashed 3 times when I was really far on a game. Now I know I should've saved often, but if we had autosave, then GE's annoying errors would not be as much of a problem.

Yep. Good idea. I want that too.

Autosave or option to always save before running.

I like that idea, Will.

I have had similar crash experiences to yours. I've learned to save often, but even so, sometimes I forget.

IMHO, it is frequently these sorts of program features that make software more elegant and user friendly.

Makslane has added many just such features in the past so, my guess is, that we will see many more to come...
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I'd be happy with a "Save game?" dialog when you enter game mode.

I noticed that the exiting Game Editor will provide a warning before exiting, but it's not based on the fact that you may have actually saved your work or not.

I'm pretty much in reverse to some other programmers. I hit the Save command first and feel better that I exit the program without being prompted, because it knows I haven't changed anything since the last save. Microsoft Word or Notepad would probably be the best analogy, but of course, Makslane would have incorporate a global change variable when anything at all gets changed, and that could require some programming effort on his part.
