This game is very good. Naturally the graphics are amazing, and it works very nicely with the music in the game. The controls took me a while to get used to, sometimes I still press down when I mean to go up. Also the moving forward system was a bit weird at first, but that is pretty easy to get used to (definitely adds to the style of the game). However, I would say the controls are by no means frustrating to deal with, it just might take a little bit to get used to (so if you are playing, don't give up after one or two plays).
Now the best part of this game is the difficulty. A lot of these style games are too easy during the level, and hard when it comes time to fight the boss. With this the enemies throughout the level keep the entire play through fun. The powerups are awesome, giving you the ability to clear the screen if you want to. But, they aren't too overpowered, since there are a large number of enemies. Really the only part of gameplay that I found a bit off was when fighting the boss, the game acts as a bullet hell shmup. The problem with that is the controls don't let you move forward and back freely, which makes it hard to dodge the onslaught of bullets. This is partially due to the controls, but also you have a small amount of room to move around when fighting the boss. On a positive light, it's just one of those things that makes the game harder/more interesting. So all in all, the game is extremely fun, and with the difficulty and hiscore features, guarantees plenty of replay value. If you have an idevice of some sort, I definitely recommend buying this game.
