how to animate (im newb)

Hey, I was wondering what I should use or how I should animate the sprites. I'll erase this once my question gets answered

There are 3 ways
1. This way is kind of hard you have to put all the frames in 1 picture and make them all the exact same distance away
2. You can create a new picture for each frame but each frame has to have a number at the end of its name then when you add the animation you change Single File to Multiple Files
3. You can just make the animation an animated image

Sorry if you cant understand any of those ways im just not very good at explaining things
