Cards game like yu gi oh (mr)

Hi Guys,
I am newbie as game developer.
I would like build a cards game like "yu gi oh" (mr) with different rules of course.
This is a game that I promise to my son (8 years old).

I know C and I am studying C++.

I would like some help and guidelines to start this game.
