Is game editor the right tool for what I want to do?

Postby Joanne » Tue Apr 11, 2006 6:14 am

Hi All
I hope somebody can help.
Am new to this. I want to develop a very simple drag-and-drop game with layers. I will need to crop imported graphics (around the edge of graphic). These croped graphics will be drapped and dropped in layers onto another imported graphic. I will need to save the game as an executable that can be distributed on a CD. Can I do this with Game Editor?

Yes. A layer would be an actor with transparency in the graphics. If you need that layer to do anything special, please let us know, and we will attempt to advise you further.

HI
Thanks for such prompt reponse. No my layers dont need to do anything special other than be dragged and dropped around the screen on top of other layers. I will then want to print out the final affect and maybe even only print the outline (for kids colouring in)

I will need the "actors" to be imported bmps or jpegs. Is this possible?

Yes, jpg and bmps may be used. I recomend a format that is lossless, something other than jpgs. If the original image is not a jpg, use png, bmp or tga(i think). If you aquired the image in jpg format, you may as well use that.

It sounds like you are staging scenes for a colouring book. I dont know of any method within Game Editor to print screen, but windows can do that for you, with the print screen button.

We'd love to hear more!

Thanks Pete
Will download the trial version tonight and see what I can do.
Yes, I am basically interested in small kids oriented "educational" computer games or stories - to be distributed on CD rather played on the web.
All pretty new though - will let you know if I make any progress.
