STX1_B5.zip
(5.77 MiB) Downloaded 172 times

For beta testing this game and telling me bugs and improvement you could suggest me, you will get your names in the credits! And maybe the final source as well!
Tell me the Average Frame rate and how the game feels in general, please be constructive if you don't mind! thanks in advance!

Controls are:
Left/Right arrow key: Steer
Up arrow key: Thrust
Down arrow key: Break
Space: Shoot
Right Ctrl: Super thrust
Esc: quit

knowns bugs are:
-Sometimes collision with bullets will get transfered to random actors (Found by: Game a gogo)
-Partial "garbage" happening because of poor drawing process in GE with canvas (Parts will get erased because of overlapping and underlapping actors if view is not in movement) (Foung by: Game a gogo)

Suggestion list:
-Improve explosion graphics (By: Lcl)
-Improve interaction Bullet->Asteroid (By: Lcl)
-Improve steering (By: MrJolteon)
-Slow down the first layer of stars (By: Skydereign)

You can edit the space craft with this: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10020

Thank you! I think you will find the ai really good, since it will evade asteroids in it's path! But there are bugs that can come with it :P

I tested it a little already..

Few things:

1. Magnificent! :)
The look of the game is very professional and game engine works well.

2. My fps was mostly around 30 and it ran smoothly. But when I shot enemy and
it was destroyed, fps dropped down for a while.

3. You should make a better animation for explosion..
It really breaks the games visual style.

4. Asteroids could react better to shots.

Note that this all is meant to be constructive and to help you make it even better.
Good, very good job man! :)

Lol HBlade

Also Lcl, thank you very much for your output! I'd like more information on your point 4, about the bullets. Are you talking about the ricochet? Should it need less hit to destroy the rocks?

Well, to me it seemed that those asteroids didn't react that much.
They could spin and move when being shot and destroy after many shots.
(I don't remember anymore how they actually did act, but I think it was quite little compared to how fast the shots came.) :)

I will return to this subject later when I have played it more. :)

the shot's speed doesn't affect the the damage, since that is constant. And if I make it react too much, you will end up with an asteroid you can't follow or shoot :P but I will see what I can do about it, I'll try tweeking it, thanks though!

It's good, but you could improve the steering, it's almost impossible to turn without stopping first

Its already very addictive, I love the way that ships break up several times before dying and the map works very well, I actually found myself using it to hunt down enemies and fuel. I'd probably add some much weaker and smaller enemies that are easy to destroy to add a bit more variety. Excellent work though :) .... again

Steering and handling are space craft specific. Some ships will turn quickly whiles others don't. Although the acceleration will say how small the turn curve will be when you already have gained speed.
The intend was also to be a bit more realistic over practicality, but I will see what I can do to accomodate! Thanks for the input!

There will be variety, don't you worry! But if you have ideas for ennemies tell me! I intend to integrate most if not all ennemies found in Operation: Inner Space inside this game. So things like a turret, a special weapon turret, hazard blocks (Some kind of meteorite that doesn't move and shoots fire), a fan and more is to come!

Thank you all for the suggestion and testing!
