Graphics editor

Postby Locke » Sat Mar 03, 2007 5:55 pm

I think this topic is better for my question.

What programs do you guys use for you graphics editing. Do you just use regular programs like Windows paint or do you use more complex programs. What ever program you use, please give me the name and maybe a download site that I could get it off of.

Thanks a ton,

Locke

Right now (10/14/2009) I'm working on some C++ projects, but I might be able to help if you have some Game Editor questions. :)

Mostly, for basic graphics, I use paint. Paint is a simple yet powerful tool, and you can get some pretty good results from it. Also helpful is some 3d modeling program and some other graohics editor (like photoshop or paintshop).

Using Gimp has been mentioned to me before in this forum and I attempted to download it, but when I went to the download site, there were about 30 files and I had no idea which ones I needed and which ones I didn't. I don't have enough space on my computer to just download all of them and see what happens, so will you please tell me which files you downloaded.

Thanks,

Locke

Sure. For windows you need to the GTK+ package. There are two; choose the one for your operating system. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-w ... -setup.zip

Thats for windows xp. Install that first.

next, get the program itself.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-w ... etup-1.zip

Optional is the help files, but I never bothered with that.

I use:

-Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are great but cost an arm and a leg.

-Electric rain's Swift 3-D program is easy to use and relatively cheap but limiting.

-Blender is a fantastic and Free 3-D program, but takes some time to learn.
