Jump Buggy Racing - Updated!

Postby DST » Tue Apr 15, 2008 5:33 am

UPDATED VERSION!

Jump buggy is an example of a first person driving game using techniques from older arcade games.

Use your jump buggy to collect stars and powerups to upgrade your vehicle.

Jump off the screen for BIG points!

I completely remade this game from scratch, and its much more solid this time. In addition, it has 3 vehicles to choose from that are all unique in their handling.

Uses the arrow/wasd keys, and 0/ctrl/e for nitrous. It has been configured to run on a PPC as well, using 'c' for the exit key. I'd be grateful to any ppc owners who could test it for me! If it plays, I'm considering adding more levels graphics and better music and making it a real release.

Nice work DST! This is pretty enjoyable! I do not own a pocket PC so I can test it out for you on that plateform, sorry! Keep up the good work!

Jump Buggy Racing has been updated with new backgrounds and music! I also made a couple minor fixes to the physics.

Enjoy!

Very nice! but I think you should work on the perspective of the object, they don't seem to be in the same camera angle as the ground :P

It's fun. The music is good but I can't seem to get a star. What am I doing wrong?

If you can change this into a pocket pc version, I can try it on a Dell Axim tomorrow night.

I have a Dell Axim running Windows Mobile 5. I can hotsync the game onto the device but when I try to open it it hangs the device. Have tried the keys and the stylus. Don't know what else to do.

Maybe the key to start the game has to be something different, like "any key". As the keys on the ppc are:

up, left, right, down

and center button

I'm willing to keep trying. I think it's important to know how to get this to work.

I found this searching pocketpc here:

"It is prepared for PocketPC. You just have to resize the view to 240x320 and set the keys. The main keys are "Left and Right Ctrl", "Space bar" and "Return/Enter"."

And this re Windows Mobile 5:

Have you exported the Pocket PC version?

Yes, I'm pretty sure he did. It's the last zip file in this thread. I can hotsync it to the pda but when I try to run it, I get a little colorful spinning circle like it's trying to open, then it freezes my pda, which is no big deal thanks to soft reset.

I put it in program files on my pda where other games are. I could see the program and the name of the program but couldn't run it.

I would like to get this to work on my handheld as much as he would. : )

As I said, I'm willing to try again.

The executable file in the zip is not working in my Dell Axim too.
But if you get the ged file and export will works.

Ok, I'll try to do that myself a little later tonight unless DST has time to do it right now and then I can try it as soon as I get home. :D

Export the Ged means just that----take the ged file out of the first file he put up and export it to ppc? Nothing else to do?
