Our own brain games!

Postby tvz » Fri Dec 19, 2014 3:19 pm

Hello everyone
i am sure most of you must have heard about brain games(not the TV show)/brain training or games that increase our brain performance. These small games take record of how we perform in certain games from day 1 and show us how our performance has increased. But the problem is that most of them are not free (memorado, lumosity, etc) . So i am thinking that we should make our own brain games. We can divide the games and any one developer can work on certain no. of games and after all games are made, any one programmer can link all them to a single '.exe' and handle player's performance graph for each game + user interface. So what do you think?

Anyone? Why don't you people reply? This is the reason forum is dying. I know there are a lot of users who check every post of the forum but don't reply. The total no of registered users is very high ( > 24, 000). Almost every day a new user joins the forum. Even if you are a new user then also you should get involved in these projects or tasks of others if they say or give suggestions. You can learn a lot this way. I am not talking about this post, it is about every post.
OR if you feel lazy to login everytime (like I used to feel) to post a reply or anything else then you can check the automatically login box.
I also understand that it lacks some features but you can surely learn some basics of making a game. And good games can be easily made once you get familiar with ge.
But if you just want to know about game making and feel too lazy to try to learn then nothing can be done.

I know of the some well known users who may not reply(bcoz they are busy in their own projects , dont login often, etc) but it is about new users.

the person who gave vote above should also post a reply expressing his views.
I have not left.

This is a dying forum, and I don't think we will be able to stop it. We all tried many times, with many topics, but there is not enough heart in this forum to try to revive itself. I have been here since 10', and some even before that, but we can all vouch this forum has been dying, I know it has since I joined, and there hasn't been any spurts of random activity, just more dying. As you can see, this forum is dying to the point where now it does not even have any activity as a whole for a few days. I think you made the last post on the 19th, and that was the last time anyone made a post. I made a fb page, and it seems some aren't coming back because of the lack of progress on GE itself. For instance, speck said he would gladly come back if the multiplayer online project was finished, but that is miles away, so GE will just keep dying. Sad, but reality, happens to all forums when there is no reason to keep posting. GE is becoming outdated in many aspects, but those who remain, like the things it still gives that others don't, but others will have those too eventually. When I joined, it was just a few weeks after 1.4 came out, no updates since then.

Could you give a concrete example of a brain game?
I haven't heard of them (at least not with the English name), so it's kinda difficult for me to understand what kind of games they are.

The idea sounds interesting anyway. I myself am busy with my own project, so I won't be participating as a programmer, but I would be interested in seeing this getting done.

Also, I think this topic would belong to Game Development section as this is about making certain types of games. The Other-section was originally made for off-topic conversations, such as jokes and silly topics with rules how to respond to previous messages, etc. Your meaningful topic may go unnoticed in this forum section.

This place might be dying, but I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
Not until I consider the site dead. That is, if more than a month passes after the last post, not counting my own.
Let's work together to keep me from leaving, everyone.

Bad jokes aside, if you don't mind me going on-topic, it's a good idea in theory, but it won't work in practice. None of the previous forum projects have succeeded, what makes you think this one will?

You should surely google 'lumosity' or 'memorado' to check.
e.g.
Game in which we click those boxes which were highlighted. (This type of games increase memory.)

Another game in which direct coming trains to thier correct platform. (This type of games increase multitasking skills.)

Well, no problem if you people are busy. I was just asking. I will post a demo after making atleast 5 games (it will take time).

Well looks like i finished my first complete game.
category memory
basically a shape with a color will appear for 1.5 sec then randomly another shape (or the same)
will appear if they are the same you should press d if not you will have to press d if you didn't press anything
and the 1.5 sec passed it will count as wrong answer..

the more correct answers in a row you make the more difficult the game will be..
and that's it.

creating the game in GE took 5 days while making the graphics took me just 6 hours
if there are any bugs or if there is a better way do a certain thing then tell me..
old demo (4.6 MB) http://www.filz.us/files/10e55557/63b/Shapes_N_Colors.rar

Nice work!
Impressive!
If this is your first game then it is very good. Graphics look stunning. The game runs smoothly.
There is only one bug, 'Best Combo' is always '00' when playing game for first time.

You should reduce the time given to user to press a key.
It should be few milliseconds (500~1000) instead of 1.5 seconds.
Or it should keep decreasing(e.g. for first time -1.5s, for 2nd - 1.4s and so on)
