Game editor community developed game

Postby Supermonkeydog » Sat Aug 15, 2015 5:21 am

I've been using game editor for awhile now and want to make games well beyond my skill level as a programmer. It got me thinking about users on this forum pooling resources, sharing code, and making one massive game. I have a few ideas myself I think would perfect for this.

SPACE BEASTS- A space rpg mixed with a city sim and creature collecting.
-has over 25 planets each can be visited and has three types of creatures to capture and new ship blueprints as well as upgrades
-has top down shmup combat as well as unlockable fleets attacking at set intervals based on fleet stats
-each fleet must have a commander which are recruited on planets or through the completion of events
-each fleet contains a number of ships based on its commanders leadership stat
-creatures captured can be summoned for an ultimate attack
-has a unique upgrade system based on collecting technology types of defeated ships.
-ships upgrade/evolve through three stages each stage having three options to evolve to
-a space station will act as a hub world
-people live on space station and ships making up total population
-each planet has its own species of people which can live on your ship
-each species has its own stats and gets a bonus when working with technology from its planet
-people will have a culture stat which determines how much money is mad per ingame minute as well as what can be researched
-space beasts have a work stat that determines how well they work when not in battle
- a star chart will act as a map showing planets
-traveling to a planets will be when battle occurs rather than a distance a certain number of enemy waves must be defeated
-when arriving at the planet a champion will act as a boss with a creature from the planet accompanying him
-people can devote themselves to mining, medicine, accounting, science, or combat
-a unique stat system based around plasma nanotech and kinetic based defence and attack

let me know what you guys think.

Though I won't have time to participate, the game sounds like an epic RPG space game in scope. Best of luck.
Have you been able to create smaller games that played well and were completed by yourself?

I have been able to start and complete a couple rough games. I do all sprite work myself so it takes awhile. I've messed around and made a simple side scrolling shoot'em up with rpg mechanics, and an endless random enemy spawner that scales difficulty to the frame count. Im hoping to add a lot more to it though like a combo system, and boss fights.

Sounds good. When ready, feel free to post any games you've made in GE on the forum. 8)
