New to Game Editor and having FUN so far!

Postby Irondan75 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 12:26 pm

Hello to ALL :D

I have only been using GE a few days now, read a lot of tutorials and watched some videos. I completed the beginners tut for a platform action game by Krenisis (was good)
and I'm very impressed with the stuff people here on the boards have been up to. I look forward to making fun games for all to play and learning from everyone along the way.

(?) Can I create a picture in say Photoshop and use it as the whole background to a game, or do I have to create sprite blocks and build Mario style?....also how do I change the GE background from Black to any other color?

Also..what is the best pixel size for character sprites and backgrounds for making ipod/phone games.

Thanks for the help

Great! Is there a size I should use so the whole pic is viewed on the screen?

I don't recommend. It must be either 480*320 or 960*640

As for the rest, the size of graphics depends on the kind of game you want to create, so this should be your prefference and what you want your game to look like

Hey I was wondering if it is possable to make an iphone game on GE that is cross platform. So the 1 game is able to run on standard iphone, iphone hd, and ipad. I know with objective c I would add the code and for every image I would need it 3 ways. 480 x 320 iphone 3, 960 x 640 iphone 4 (hd), and I cant think off the top of my head what ipad would be. Do you know if this is possable?

Thanks

Everywhere I have read says the iphone 4 screen is 480 x 320 and the resolution is 960 x 640. I have noticed that most people refer to the iphone 4 as HD, I know it has retina display... Do you know if my query is possable, would be great if it was

Thank you

I did a test for retina, and it didn't work. The game ran, but only showed the section of the screen. Maybe it works when using geapp, but I tested it with the geplayer a while back.
