Game Editor wiki!

This is an important anouncement!

Game Editor web has a new feature...

Here is where we put the docs and tutorials from now on! Wikipedia interface. You don't make any new accounts, the account you use now is what you use there: Thanx, feral, pyrometal, asmodeus, etc...

Another recent happy event, is that Game Editor also has a Wikipedia entry too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Editor Right now it is almost complete, lacking only more inner links, and sceenshots, icons.

I hope that we can all use our wiki well, so that every newbie can understand it too.

I'm not joking, makslane supervised me to post this.

I have some tips for further improving the article! (Wow... I'm unexplainably excited!)

I think, to make it even better, you could put the supported image and sound file formats in a single, universal table, which can be accessed as a handy reference.

I looked through wikipedia and found a category which lists numerous game development software... To add Game Editor to it, it's likely you'll need to add the type of software to 'Game Creation Software.'

Again, publishing game editor information on wikipedia can be met with a congratulations, and it might signal a step forward with the Game Editor... why, game editor seems to have a bright future ahead! It might not be used for professional gamers -- but still, we could give the opportunity of game design to the ordinary people (what possibilities there can be...)! That ought to be a major contribution... few other game development software seem to care about simplicity and hobby. Game Editor is simple, unique, and gives people an unique opportunity.

The idea is put in the wiki all documentation, tutorials and any other things related with Game Editor.
You can use the wiki to talk about you and your games too. A good place is edit your user pages, like:

Thanx desertgamer, for the ideas! I've been the main editor of the wikipedia entry!
It isn't done yet, I want to add icon and screenshot, but sadly my wiki account isn't autoconfirmed yet. That'll be in 1-2days. Which page is it your were talking about? I can edit any wikipage, so it's no biggy.

Ive edited a few things there. Wrote something in the basics tutorial section, the third in the list.

Plus I added an int entry.

The Game Editor could be added to that list (Don't expressively "promote" anything though! Encyclopedias wouldn't like that...).

I know, desertgame, I know. I have read all the important policy stuff of the wiki. In 2006 there was an attempt to create a Game Editor wikipedia entry, but it was deleted, so now I've been making sure I do everything right. Thanks, I'm adding Game Editor now.

Great! What a nice entry! I have a few pointers though (but it's me suggesting them, so it might
not be worth to follow... )

One concerning me is display version history on Wikipedia. It seems, having this present, that it is promoting something, because it displays the features and fixes few people would really read. People look an encyclopedia for how something works -- which, gladly, the main game editor concepts described in context fulfill. I seriously think that the table be removed from the public Wikipedia entry, due to these reasons.

Version history is great just on the official site, when people are more dived into the Editor.
