Colour Black Transparent Even With Other Transparency

Postby summer_goth » Mon Jan 07, 2008 7:46 am

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is a bug or whether I am doing something wrong. I am using pink as the transparent colour in all my images. However many of the images that have black in it, the black will go transparent as well.

So the pink (which is the pixel at the top left corner) goes transparent but so does any black ( RGB(0,0,0) ). The images are gif files originally but I tried replacing them with bitmaps and the same error still occurs. Some of the bigger images seem to work fine though.

Is this a bug and is there some way that I can fix it without changing the black to a less black colour?

Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure if gifs store 257 colors.. 256 regular ones and also a special transparent color? That might be your problem..

Hmmm and it seems that I can't recreate the bug now.

I tested it out in a new project. In the new project everything works fine with the images. In my work project the actors that are affected still have the same black transparency problem even when I change the images. Weird. It looks like some freak occurrence. I'll see if I can fix it in the original project by creating new actors with the same images after deleting the images in the data folder first.

Thanks for trying it out.

I tried to give each of you a plus point now. Bee-Ant, you got one, but Fuzzy when I tried to give you one I came to a page with a SQL error. Will try and give you one again later.

I'm not sure if this applies to which ever format you are using, but the top left pixel in a bmp is used as the transparent color..
