what is a sprite and how do i use it ????

the sprite is a pic mean (your player pic or enemys or items) and sprite is use in game-editor software.you can make sprite in paint or adobe photoshop understood or not

can i use the attached pic with out cutting itup or do i have to chop it up

know of any free animations sites i can use, i found some mario bro stuff but thats about it

As a beginner you should cut every different event pics.
I mean that you cut so in one pic you have just mario running right, in another mario jumping, etc.
The pic where you have Mario running right can have 6 Marios (for example) so each Mario is called "frame".
You can set the game to show all 6 Marios in a line but its nicer looking when you set Game Editor to show only one frame at a time by setting the width and height in the "add animation" box.
