I have some questions about this program

Postby Pokejedservo » Sat Feb 10, 2007 7:15 pm

I am intrested in maybe using this program to make games. Granted I will most likely have to make them free (IIRC) due to how my game ideas are already based on pre-existing source materials. (Such as more known games) but still I have some questions.

1. Can it be possible to get other folks to work with me in these projects? I don't want to come off as lazy but when it comes to game production I do believe in the idea of having more & more people getting involved in the production instead of just one. (Except for maybe a homebrew Atari 26K game for something like that).

2. Can I insert voice acting WAV and/or MP3 clips in the games? I am into Amateur Voice Acting and I am familiar with plenty of people whom are also into it as well. (I go to one of those sites namely voiceactingalliance.com)

3. Do the games have to be small? Because I have some pretty big ideas in games with plenty of characters to boot.

4. I know it sounds unlikely and while I did know that the site itself mentions on how it works on any Computer system. But Datel says that they have a program that allows homebrewn games to be played on a Nintendo DS. (And I think they have something like that for other systems as well though I don't know for sure.) Can Game Editor programs be used like that or no? Just out of curiousity...

Well these are my questions and I hope to get an answer on them soon...

One, It would be a pleasure working whit you, i have no project running on, PM me for telling me details and stuff.

Two, Sure, you can insert Wav for voice acting, if you need any modification, try wavepad found on the NCH website (Search it on Google)

Three, you can make the game as big as you want! but there is a limit, i think its 10000000 pixel, but if you need more space, all you need to do is make another file (Room)!

Fourth, Well, makslane (the creator of GE) will only be able to answer this one.

I suppose that can be true...

Though I would also like to ask is that my game plans are already based on pre-existing material so its probably not a good idea for me to try to market them. Now buying the program and its services of making games you can sell would be great for people who want to make games on their own storyline and the like. But my games are kind of like adaptations of pre-existing games (with my own differences).

So basically where I am getting at is that would buying the free "demo" version of the program be too limited for me to really use? I mean sure I know it says that its for Windows PCs only. (Which is fine with me since unless if my 4th question from earlier gets a yes, Windows PCs would be my only way to play them.) But still other than that will I still be able to use the Game Maker fully as a 2-D game designer? Or will I need to buy it in order to use all of its design tools?
