Sites to sell games on? Anyone?

Postby NUTINC » Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:07 pm

I am going insane. I looked through this forum and 1 other and all i found was Handango, Pocketgear, and Clickgamer. These sites don't sell games for the pc :( I CAN'T SELL FOR ANYTHING BUT THE PC! :x Does anyone have any sites besides these that they sell games on?

Any of those sites would take a percentage (typically 50%) of the sales from you for the service of collecting/managing the transactions. Once you have a product that you feel is worth selling (or several), I recommend you start your own site and be the sole distributer.

Clickgamer does have a section for pc games but I do not think that the pc section is very busy.

The problem with selling it yourself is that you will have to do advertising and you will have to do sales support and all kinds of things that makes it quite a hassle. The bonus is that you know what's happening with your game and you do not have to share your earnings.

If I were you I would sell a pc game on indie game sites. You will have to look around for these. An example is: Reflexive Arcade. http://www.reflexive.com/

The problem is that your game gets lost between all the other games and I am sure that they take a percentage of the sales. A good idea is to get your demo to as many sites as you can. Some Game magazines feature the top indie games. Get it out there. Yet still sell it through a site like Reflexive Arcade.

Do your own marketing plus the marketing that you receive from them. I am babbling here. However it seems like the best option. There's probably quite a few of these sites that sell indie games.
