Want to test Verdun 1916? (WW1 shooter Game)

Postby Diana Kennedy » Thu Nov 16, 2006 12:30 am

Well, I am ready to offer you my early beta-version for a testing.

The game is "Verdun 1916" and has the following premise; You are a lost sniper in the No Man's land between the lines. Since you have nothing to loose, you take down as much of the German soldiers that pass on the battlefield, as you can.

Click on the enemies to shoot them.

Every Enemy that reaches the left border makes you loose 20 score points. Every enemy killed makes you gain 20 points. But be cautious, sometimes they spot you and shoot back. Every shot from an Enemy into your direction is 2 points lost. Sometimes they even throw grenades. This can terminate the game. Sometimes they walk on mines. Game is then terminated.

After 7 shots, you'll have to reload your rifle. right-click on "ammo" for that. But wait until the reloading sound is finished. You can't shoot otherwise.

The game is higly realistic (for a 2D game) It has a lot of randomness: Each session will be different. Sometimes only a few soldiers appear per game, sometimes the battlefield is a living hell.

Be aware of he fact that the file has 37 MB to download.

I will let the file on the server for 10 days. After that, it will be removed.
If you download and test it, please give feedback in this thread:

-Do you like it?
-Did you encounter bugs?
-What was your best score?
-Is it too easy or too difficult?
-other comments.

ohw! Thanks for downloading it anyway. I know what a torture a slow internet-connection can be. You tend to forget that, when the ADSL works...

That's bad. I also live in a small village, and they did not care about us. But at least, since a year we have now a DSL at 2 MB now.

Its an amazing game. I love your art style. I cant get over it. Ad you evoke the feeling of that war(so much as I could ever know it), so very well. Its lvoely art, and a horrible setting! good job!

Thank you very much!

I will look into making the cursor as a target permanently, so that it is less confusing.

What was your best scores, Guys?
