Is it illegal to use sprites that arnt yours?

umn, just wondering if it is "illegal" to use srpites that arnt yours...
well. u see, i used sprites that "Belong" to a company in my game,
i was just wondering if it "illegal" to "borrow" these sprites if is say
in my game that the graphics are the property of these companys...

No, you need written permission from them and you probably won't get that unless you pay them for the rights to use them.

it's fine to use them but most people like some credit from their work.(like me!)

yup, I would even be careful even to use other people's sprites on websites, if they catch ya, you'll pay!
(it's like that in Germany at least...)

If you use other people's sprite, most of the time, you can't use them for making profit, as a (cc) (Common copy) law is applied upon them, Many of my artwork has a (cc)

Be careful of those sites that say "you may use these in your projects just give me credit". Most (but not all) of the time they are just sprites ripped from games and the people giving the sprites out don't have authority to do so.
