trying to understand save and load vars

im trying to understand exactly how save and load vars works
does it just look in the same folder the exe is in and if it cant find it it makes one

saveVars will write the save file, and load will read it. So if there is a file already there, saveVars overwrites it. If there isn't a file, loadVars won't be able to load anything, so the variables in the save group will remain unchanged. loadVars will not create a file.

but it creates and loads a file from the same folder that the exe is in right
