Pocket PC: Game Paused at startup?

Postby BeyondtheTech » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:26 pm

I have version 1.2.8 and have exported a quick animation test that loads fine when I'm in the Windows GUI, but whenever I create (export) any Pocket PC version, it launches, but goes straight to "Game Paused" and I have to click "Continue Game" or "Exit" to actually start the program or exit it, respectively. Am I missing something in my coding?

sounds like you have some app running in the background on your PDA that steal the focus away from the game.

I don't have any other programs loaded. In fact, the program launches once out of every 3 or 4 times, and the other times it locks up or soft-resets my device. I've hardly put enough coding to make it go screwy. Is the POCKETPC.BIN the latest version? I tried the pocketpc4.bin I found elsewhere on the forum and exporting an EXE with it never launches. Any clues?

Well, I seemed to have narrowed it down a bit. It launches with more stability on the main memory of my PDA2k, but it crashes when launching from my SD card. ??

It's still pausing at startup, and this is even after a full hard reset of my PPC.

Beyond:
1. Have you tiried uninstalling and reinstalling GE? I know that this is a simple fix, but in the past, I've found it has worked for me. Personally, I've never had any issues running the programs on my PPC (ViewSonic).

2. What sort of PPC do you have? Maybe you do need a different bin from those that you have tried. I believe that there are several that Makslane has developed for users of non standard PPCs.

I have a feeling that Makslane may need to answer your question.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Well, I noticed that if you select "No" for "Suspend game if lost focus" in the "Config" settings, it'll never pause, so I guess it's better than nothing.

FYI I have uninstalled, deleted directory (not registry, if there was anything there to begin with), and reinstalled with same results.

Are you using the SuspendGame() function in some action?
After press continue your game enter in "Game Paused" again?
I will look the SD card issue.

I never even used/knew of that command yet. It's right upon startup, but it looks like that selecting "No" as noted in my previous post seemed to fix the initial startup in Paused mode. Hope you can find out why it crashes consistently on the SD. Thanks.

I don't get any crash with my Pocket PC running from MMC card.
Can you send me your game to test here?
