How do you rip sprites from a game?

How do you rip sprites from a game? And how do you make them animated?

I know that certain games (like DOOM) had programs made for them to remove/insert graphics, but ripping sprites isn't something that can be done for any game...

I'm not sure how to rip sprites from games. However if you are in need of sprites then have a look at the following page:

There are more sprites than what you will ever need. Just make sure about the copyright of the sprites before using them for commercial needs. I do not think that any of the sprites on that page may be used commercially. I may be wrong of course.
