Game Editor future

Postby makslane » Thu May 18, 2006 11:31 pm

Hi all,

I have read all posts about new features and release dates.
I'm very busy now working in the new Game Editor interface.
I think will be a more productive interface.

It's hard talk about release dates, but I'm trying make my best to release in the next months.
I can't release a beta now due the interface it's not fully functional.

After the interface changes, the next big change will be the multiplayer game capabilities.
I'm design a P2P based multiplayer system that will allow games with hundred or thousands of users.
Aside the scalability features, the game configuration will be simple, like enable the net property in the actor.

Other feature will allow export games for web based on an ActiveX engine to Internet Explorer (may be other browsers too).
And I hope make possible export Java games too. It's a hard task, but is not impossible.

Thanks for your support,
Makslane

That's the good thing about you Mak - you take the time to level with us and let us know these kinds of things.

I tell you, I picture myself in your position with people constantly asking "When's the next update coming out? How much longer to go?"

Of course, my reply would be "IF YOU USERS DON'T STOP PESTERING ME I SWEAR I'LL TURN THIS PROGRAM RIGHT AROUND...."

The network feature is exiting. Can you release some screenshots? I can't wait! :D How much different will the interface be, will it be hard to learn the new interface...?

That's looking really nice and polished Mak! I know some people from the GM forum were criticizing your interface before, this ought to silence them!

I'm looking forward to seeing the final outcome!

WOW that looks really cool. I noticed it uses some windows widgets. It looks a little bit like visual basic. Will it still work on Linux?

What parts of the interface do you still have to work on?

There is a lot of work to do.
Make the actions and animations works, for example.

Looking really sweet, can we expect any improved performance from the exported games this time around or will it merely be a new interface?
