This topic has gone way off topic, so here's a chair.

I'd like to try sitting on that chair. :)

Anyways, I think it's time for a return (of the Jedi!) to the topic. :D

Could a modified version of this engine be used to make a mario kart like game?

Thus, you'd leave almost all of the ray casting engine unused...

Actually, one could make a kart battle game, sort of like the balloon battles on Mario Kart. Karts could battle in a maze-like environment. That would make very good use of the raycasting engine. Or perhaps you could be racing in a city, that'd be neat.

Really, what you do with sabre is only limited to your imagination. :D

i think that saber (like jagmaster said) would be an awesome racing game, all you have to do for the car (i think) is to get a 180 degrees inner view of a car gif or sprites can also be dun which is pretty easy, and what you have to do is to change frame of the car animation every time you press left or right, that will make the car steering process,as for the gas ,as in the normal Saber all you have to do is to press up and you will be going forward.

Yeah, that would be awesome! Image I'd like to at least try that also when I get the engine ready Image

That's true. Sabre is not going to be an engine for only walking and running around in mazes..
It's going to be the closest thing to a 3D engine GE has ever had. (I'm not sure if that sentence makes any sense  )
And thus, it will be possible to use it for many kinds of games.

sonicforvergame wrote:i think that saber (like jagmaster said)

It's actually Sabre (= Stable Actor Based Raycasting Engine)
Yeah, that would be basically how one would make a racing game with Sabre. Of course the movement would have to be changed a little to make it feel more like driving a car.

Well, I know how I'd do that, so you don't need to do it for me. :D But, if you're interested in trying to do it for fun, you're free to try! :)

You don't need to ask my permission to do something with Sabre, it's a free engine for all to use and everyone can edit it as they want to.
All I want is that whoever uses Sabre to make a game, mentions somewhere that the game uses Sabre engine made by lcl.

But, I suggest you to wait some time, since Sabre 2.0 is developing and it will have many features the current 1.0 doesn't have.
Sabre 2.0 runs better, looks better and is capable of doing quite many other things the version 1.0 can't do. :D
