GE advertising?

I don't know how interested in advertising or promotions you all are, but I thought it'd be a cool idea to make an updated, pretty trailer for GE and possibly get some official attention to it. We could also set up a donations page, I (and I'm sure many of you) would be more than willing to donate a few extra bucks to Skydereign, Makslane, Adr, and whoever else has contributed to GE. If you are at all interested, I'd be able to come up with a trailer or two, and even a game-feature to show how useful this tool can be.

However, if the rest of the community has already given up on the future of GE, I won't bother. So let me know if any of you like this idea, and feel free to throw in your own! Let's give the creators--and GE--some of the attention it deserves!

Great idea. GE has a lot to offer, it would be shame to give up on GE.

There had been some effort in the past here, to hype GE a little.
Look around, and you can find some of those threads, I'm too lasy to give you a link
at the moment.
What all of them are sharing, is, that they are passing away after a while, without
achieving any success.

When it comes to money, it's only getting worse. One of GEs largest advantages is,
that it doesn't cost any cent.
When Sky some time ago was a victim of Apples accu-politic, my estimation was :
"Heck, if we were a real vibrant dev-forum here, we would not need more than a
week, to kinda "forum-founding" a new or used piece of Apple hardware for our
one and only GE-dev !"
But no chance here.

In the past, when GE has cost money, there was some income for the devs, but not
enough, to earn a living from.

The only thing we can do, is promoting GE through productiv activity here on the
forum, with as much cool games as we can produce. And then flooding the web
with it.

The idea with the donations page is not bad at all, but who should get the money ?

When you can provide a nice, new trailer for GE, then ask Sky or Mak, if they
can/will put it on the GE frontpage.
But don't forget, the upcoming release will have some new features !

That's what I plan on doing. I just didn't want to start a trailer if it was just gonna get shut down. But it seems others are into it, so I'll get started. I think with the proper medium, we could get it out there, but we need to do it ourselves, not expect others to do it for us.

Someone needs to make a fan game with GE for a popular youtuber and get them to play it on their channel, hahaha

But I'm all for getting a little attention coming in for GE

This will give us more users and more developers.
We need developers!

Yes to a promotional video to draw in more 2D gamers and indie developers.

Better then money is to talk about Game Editor to others.
This will give us more users and more developers.

I agree that more games being developed of good or better quality will help draw more developers to Game-Editor. It's also nice to see new members join too, Koala being one of the most recent contributors.
I had zero knowledge of C programming, but thanks to this forum's posts, threads and helpful tips, I've been able to make a few full games so far, so thank you to the community also.

GE games are still developing, right? We have a new game by Zivouhr and it could be a big thing.
