Terain editor

Does anybody know of a good program that I could use as a terrain editor? I would prefer 3D terrain, but if that doesn't work, 2D will do just as well.

Please notify me with any terrain programs that you might know of.

Heck, let me know of ALL the programs you use to aid in your game making. (Not including, of coarse, GE itself.)

i was just going to make a 3D LOOKING land there isnt realy 3D though in computers

True Space 3.1(3D Modeler) -- Not available for free anymore, i think.
Open MTP(Mod Plug Tracker, a Tracker for making music!) -- search it yourself, tis very hard to find... but here you can find MPT http://www.modplug.com
