Is better test the current GP2X engine. I can't see big changes from the GP2X-F200

Yes, looks like an updated and more powerful machine but basically the same core. My latest project is being created with this machine in mind as it's a standard 320x240 screen. And that screen does look really nice, in the screen shots at least.
