Thought it's about time to leak out a teaser. The game is coming out so nicely and I believe it will be ready very shortly for Pocket PC, Windows desktop, and Linux.

Ever wanted to command a massive space vessel just as they do in Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica?

This space combat game puts you in the captain's chair of the Commonwealth's most advanced prototype capital ship, the Battlestar PX-85601.

After a devastating attack on the fleet, the Battlestar is sent out on a surprise attack mission against the entire Ziirathian armada.

Using the touch-screen interface of your Pocket PC, or your desktop's mouse, you can control all of the ship's functions and capabilities!

Features intense gameplay, smooth animation, first-rate graphics, dramatic space opera soundtrack, and awesome movie cutscenes!

I know we had the discussion on freebies and whatnot, but this game is going to be commercial. Just think if you can do this with Game Editor Pro, you really can do amazing things only limited by your imagination.

I will be offering a free copy of the game to those who can provide contextually accurate translations of the voiceovers (there are 60 and counting, such as "Aye, sir!" and "Shields inoperative!" done in my own voice) and all text into other languages. (Sorry, no computer-based translations).

I will provide the list of phrases shortly that will need to be recorded by you and/or your friends, as well as the full text. You can have lots of fun recording WAV files of yourselves as if you're right on board the Battlestar, and just as they speak on many sci-fi shows.

Voice recordings are done at 11,025 KHz at 16-bit, mono and in WAV format.

Thanks to everyone for their support, and makslane, of course, for tweaking GE Pro all throughout the development of this awesome production!

I could translated the voice in french, everybody say im good in french.(normal im french)

I ment that you could do a french vesion, you would have more money, and i could help you for the voice and anything

That's exactly what I mean, more audience, more exposure, more fun!

I'll do an English version, then publicly provide the text and phrases that needed to be translated, where contributors would return with the translation, and I make a version for different languages.

Like, how would someone write: "Battlestar: Fate of the Galactic Commonwealth" in Hebrew or Chinese? That's something I'd like to see!

Yes, a couple of them and Photoshop. One really needs access to a lot of different tools in order to get what you're looking for.

I am still compiling the text as we speak, so I'm still thinking of phrases that would be useful and fun in the game.

Here's my TO DO list:

  • Docking with starbases
  • Orbiting with planets
  • Black hole effects on objects in sector
  • Periodic movement of enemy ships throughout the quadrant
  • Damage control and power distribution
  • Wormhole jumping cutscene
  • Victory game ending cutscene
  • Additional voices
  • Additional text
  • Instructions module
  • Software registration module
  • Game credits module


Estimated time to completion: 3 weeks.

I will need beta testers for this game in various platforms and devices! PM me if you're interested, your name can be in the credits!

In the process, I am working with Makslane to tweak out the bugs in the current beta version of GE Pro, so it's a project that's both beneficial to myself and Makslane.

Yes, I got your PM. Just still heavy in development and checking back with Makslane for issues with the editor.

Game is big. I estimate it at 32MB (all separate modules combined) with the cutscenes, so it'll defintely have to sit on a PocketPC's storage card. I'll probably make a version that won't include cutscenes or voices (should drop the size down substantially). The game module is about 12MB with 60 voices included (and that's not a complete set).

I got the game tweaked to run at a a full 30fps on the PC (easy), and a cool and tolerable 20fps on a 400MHz device, but that's with in-game music cut out. It will be interesting to see its performance on my arriving PocketPC (HTC Wizard, OMAP 850 dual-core 195MHz CPU).

Couldn't help myself. The "transp" function made it so simple to add "cloaking" of the enemies a la Klingon and Romulan-style warships. Boy, this game is getting interesting and fun!
