3D would be awesome, but, 1. We sadly are low on programmers to do this for us and 2. we would have to make an entirely new application for 3D because GE is made for 2D.
I'm not good at coming up with signatures...

Note that GM does not fully support 3d - It's merely capable. This means that most of the 3d games had to be scripted, without much help from the program.

It is not, as with most 3d game software, a 3d game maker, with a 3d world construction interface. Some users simply scripted a 3d engine, in a similar way to the 3d engine Feral created for GE...

One must consider, that with most non-3d capable phones and game devices disappearing, that soon GE would be able to take advantage of such features. How many phones are left that can run games yet can't do 3d? Fewer every day.

Doesn't bother me, i don't do 3d stuff much anyway. Would be nice to scale and rotate however. And if those options were added, one could easily script 3d on the same level as GM.
It's easier to be clever than it is to be kind.

yeah, GE is just as capable, we just have to be smarter with how we do it.
GM isnt a 3D game maker, and tbh it would be easier to do 3D with GE than GM.
if u wanna do 3D you should get a proper compliler for the job, like blitz 3D or netbeans, or bloodshed -C++, or something like that.

Did you start using ge because it could do 3d? Almost guaranteed no. Did you start because you thought it would do 3d in the future? Most likely not. Do you care enough to stop using ge? Up to you, but if a different tool for making games calls to you, go ahead. ge is very good at what it does, imo, and clearly has made some impressive games, so I doubt the devs will change directions with ge and start making it for 3d. Though 3d could be nice, exports to flash I think would be nicer. Anyway I heard from sky that the new ge will have rotation and scaling, so if you really wanted you could make more 3d type games with 1.5.0.

Honestly I like GE better than GM. Look at Bee-ant's WB, WB2, and upcoming WBR. Is that not good enough?

If you used GM, you'll realized you don't have to code to make complicated games

Ok listen very carefully to what I am about to say. Game Maker cannot export to windows mobile, iphone, GPX , etc. Therefore it is waste of time , unless you do it purely for fun. Game Editor is proffesional tool , export almost every platform known to man , Game Maker is for play. Period.
Check out Momo AlienStarcatcher , featured in apples new and noteworthy and has 5 star reviews!!!

honestly ive used both and gm 1.has a lot more complicated of an interface
2it doesnt have simple "if" variable script checking
3.if you do make a 3d game it could take you even 5 weeks just to make the main player rotate and change animation
4.making a good 3d game can make it soooo laggy that it wont even run
5. sometimes the .exe format export can crash peoples computers from it either being too large or their ram is too small
