I am not sure if this is the answer, as I do not know guitar hero, but one of the most common causes of slow down, is when lots of sprites are being created and then being sent off screen, while even more new ones are getting created and sent off scrren etc etc..
If this is the case, make sure you destroy all actors no longer needed..usually using the Out of Vision event then Destroy Actor..
if that is not the problem, please explain it again
