Game Editor Weekend Jam

Congratulations to friedfish who made a delicious game.

The next upcoming Jam is July 27th -July 29th. The theme for this jam will be "Pixel".


Rules for Game Editor Weekend Jam:

1. You may work alone or in a team of no more than 3 people.
2. The game must be created from scratch in 72 hours (3 days).
3. Games should be based on the theme of the jam.
4. Only creative commons graphics and/or your own graphics and animations may be used.
5. Ged and data files are not required but are appreciated.
6. The game must be created with Game Editor.
7. You must submit your game by Sunday 11:59 pm UTC.

Judging

Anyone, regardless of participation or not, is allowed to judge the games. Judging will take place for one and a half weeks after the jam ends. Judging takes place by responding to these categories with a score of 1-10; 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest score. Submitter must post the following on your submission page (more about this below) so others can judge based these categories:

1. Fun: How fun was it to play the game?
2. Ingenuity: How well were the resources used and how interestingly were they assembled together?
3. Theme: How well does the the game apply to the theme?
4. Creativity: Did you experience something new in the game that you had never experienced before?
5. Graphics: How good does the game look?
6. Audio: How good does the game sound?
7. Overall: Your overall opinion of the game.

How to submit your game

1. Create a post for your submission in the Game Demos board.
2. Name the submission "GEWJ - MyGame" where "MyGame" is the title of your game. For example, if your game is titled "The Soul of Darkness" then title your post "GEWJ - The Soul of Darkness".
3. If you plan on not sharing the .ged file then you are required to export for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
4. Either upload your file in .zip format or paste a link to where the file can be found in .zip format.
5. Paste the above judging criteria on your page with the instructions to score between 1 and 10 in each category. 1 is the lowest score and 10 is the highest.
6. If you worked with a team select one person to be your submitter. There can only be one submitter per game.

Yep. These types of contests are usually hosted in other countries but some are hosted in the US. Ludum Dare seems to be the most popular and they have been doing it for years so we should definitely look at how they handle the rules.

I'm very excited as well!

Wish I could, but my time is very limited ):

You could also do like a list of things to include. Don't make it mandatory but make it fun!

I say this on a 24-hour game programming jam I had back a few months in my college, it was tons of fun, a lot of silliness and energy drinks were involved.

yeeeeaah, everyone in my team had to pry me from the computer to take a one hour break... I didn't wanted to stop once I started XD so I programmed for like 23 hours straight, was fun!

So I suggest people should join this jam if they have the chance :)
