Just to give a heads up, it looks like I'm going to keep the progress meter at 75% since I wanted to add a few more things to the to-do list before its release.
As willg101 also reported
here, I'm having some issues with all the objects moving towards a black hole, which would make for an interesting battle.
I'm redoing the enemy AI as well. Even though the battles are tough as it is, they could be smarter, and I would also want to make sure they would learn to avoid the asteroids, black holes, and suns.
Also, I've decided to also re-texturize the ship for a more detailed look, as well, as finalize the cutscenes.
Speaking of which, the cutscenes make the game a WHOLE lot bigger. Each 15 second animation with music a whopping 4-5MB at 240x160, so I'm thinking of making the cutscene as an add-on for PocketPC users who have the SD memory card space to spare.
I only wished that some sort of movie playback would be possible in GE, since I know for sure I would be able to cut down on the size. The game module alone with only a handful of the recorded voiceovers is already 12MB. That will likely rule out the possibility of the game being stored anywhere than an external storage card.
Lastly, I want to make this game compatible with the HW6500 series Pocket PCs, with the square 240x240 displays. Since GE won't allow export of a PocketPC version if the view resolution size is not 240x320 or 320x240, I'm wondering if the game will run anyway with just the screen being cut off at a certain size. If so, I can simply export normally at 240x320 and make a console-less screen or modified console screen to adapt the 240x240 resolution.
Voiceovers is nearly finalized with over 90 different WAV files at 8KHz, 16-bit mono. When it's truly finalized, I will list the phrases here and hopefully get enough people to help out and translate and upload their own voiceovers in their languages.
