The Amalgamation Project

Postby NUTINC » Wed Apr 02, 2008 4:16 am

Hi! Nut Inc here! I've been working on a whole bunch of games recently and decided to post a demo of one of them. I call it, Amalgamation!

The goal of Amalgamation depends on the mode but the basic design stays the same, move the player (a circle) around the screen picking up shapes and using them as weapons. There are two modes
War Mode
In War Mode the shapes become weapons to protect the player. Over time, bosses will appear(bosses aren't ready yet)
Tetris (not included yet) (Thank you Mojo Domo for the Idea)
Grab similar shapes and colors to remove them from play, if your shapes touch the edge of the screen you lose. Enemies are now special abilities.

Grab onto 3 other shapes: triangles, squares, and hexagons.
Triangles
mines that dissapear after 30 seconds
Squares
turrets that recharge after colliding with other squares
Hexagons
shields that can be dragged with the mouse

There are 5 enemies
Spikes (yes they look like the Star of David), they chase after you and eat your triangles, let them eat 6 and they become...
Anticircles!, they chase after shapes that haven't been grabbed yet and convert them into their anti forms
Antitriangles! (boy am i imaginative 0.O), these behave like anticircles, except can't move.
AntiSquares (you can see where this is going), fires shots at player and grabbed shapes
AntiHexagon (insert witty crack here), very slow, kills player instantly if collides,

update 04/05/08
Squares are ready for use!
update 04/06/08
Big update! There is now *clears throat*: A start menu, an options menu, an instructions menu, a menu menu, Hexagons (shields that can be moved by the player), Antisquares (squares that fire at the player), a Health Bar, and AntiHexagons (autokills player if it hits, takes 6 hits to kill), and Free mode (no enemies, no health, and can move pieces around)
update 04/07/08
Game now comes with a windowed version and preset options menu.
update 04/26/08
Yes I know the game is missing. I am trying to get the next version on the net.
update 05/3/08
Took forever. but the new version of the game is here!
go to http://www.freewebs.com/nutinc to download it!
New update includes:
Amalgatris mode (tetris!), a records menu, credits menu, 2 bosses, and music and sound effects!
Thanks to Mojo Domo for the idea for Amalgatris and the sound effects!

btw, do you have sounds and music for your game? or did you need some? ( i might be able to provide them for you depending on what style you want )

since the object of the game isnt done yet, i thought i might just take a guess at what it could be

colors
you need to match up the colors with the other colors, and every time you perform an action it changes the colors,

shapes
you can only match up shapes that are the current right color, shapes that are not the right color will not merge, so if you

this is kind of like a 360 degreese style tetris, or bejewled or ( boggle boggle, puyo pop i cant remember the name of the game)

this could become one of the most addictive games on GE

I'm gonna put sounds and music in the game soon.
The sound and music will change depending on the amalgamation.
Thanks for telling me about the color change problem Mojo Domo!

Do you mean like actors, or new abilities? I don't understand.
