It's amazing how lucrative the App Store can be. With over 40,000,000 iPhone and iPod touch devices in circulation, I'd be estatic if I can reach just 1% of the audience. That would be 400,000 in sales, which would translate out to $396,000 gross profit at $0.99 each, and $277,200 net profit (Apple takes 30%). If you come out with a killer game or application, there's no stopping you. I've read that Pocket God, a simple $0.99 app, had gotten an average of 18,000 sales PER DAY in an entire month.
No more worrying about Handango/PocketGear ripping you off at nearly 55% in profit cuts, varied hardware specs on the Windows Mobile platform, causing many issues and incompatibilities, and an absolute free-for-all attitude with piracy.
