What are your Mobile resolutions?

Postby Hblade » Tue Apr 06, 2010 10:50 pm

Hi everyone I need to know what the standard Resolution for mobile PC's are.

I know allot of people have the 800x480 (rotated) but from what I understand, those models can't handle 640x480 rotated

Ok most standard windows mobile devices are 480x800 or 800x480 which are the same. Let me give you the list
480x800 WVGA
480X640 VGA
320X240 QVGA
So when you see the term VGA you know its 480x640 or 640 x480.
There are other resolutions but those are not standard.

Is it possible to run a 640x480 app on a mobile that supports 800x480? Will the resolution change?

Game Editor doesnt auto-scale so thats not possible. I asked Makslane about that but he said it will slow down the games if he makes it auto-scale. So the resolution has to be exact.

Well most people have WVGA or VGA so those would be mainly the resolutions you would be making games for.

True. I also know how I can still have the 640x480 version applied to the 800x480 version. It's simple :D Simply put 2 "black bars" making it look like it's in a 4:3 aspect ratio, when the game it's self is actually 800x480 :D YEY

No that wouldnt be a good idea. Make the game for WVGA 1st trust me . You can use the same graphics for the vga game and it wont be too much of difference. WVGA 1st then VGA its better that way

But I'd still rather make both of them, it wouldn't take that long to do and it'll allow for both people to play the game :D

Yes I make it for both but what Iam saying is you can use wvga graphics on vga. But you cant use vga graphics and put it in wvga because they be too small. When I get a chance on weekend I show you what I mean . Its easier that way.
