will the Game Editor game making tool ever be ported to other systems like iPhone or Android? I would pay literally any amount of money to get this on my iPhone

 I seriously would pay any amount of money for something like this but your right. The likelyhood of this happening is probably pretty low.

Game Editor is the best Free tool for 2D Game creation, cross platform as well.
Art: Gimp
Sprite Design: I would use Tile Studio

I agree with what Hblade said, Game Editor (in my opinion) is the best freeware, 2d game creation software there is :D

This is highly personal opinion :P

For art and sprite design AND tile design, I use Icon Lover from www.aha-soft.com
As of music and sound effects, I use Open Modplug Tracker.

FL Studio is baaadd, every music made with it sounds the same, no offense :)

But like I said, this is a personal opinion, it all depends on how you use the program, heck, ms paint is one of the best paint tool out there, yet people still hate it, I don't get it :)

I'm one of those people that don't like it. It doesn't work right for me. But that's my opinion :D

In my opinion paint works perfectly if you know how it works :D

I'm not that good at drawing on computer or using paint but I've gotten used to it and I use it with other programs.
For example, I draw a picture in paint without gradients and shades and then copy it to tile studio, because it makes great gradients automatically. Then I just copy it back to paint! :D

SuperSonic, what do you use for graphics? :)

Yes, that's exactly the kind of thing that I do. I will use multiple programs to get the best effect :D

I use Graphics Gale. It was recommended to me by DilloDude :D
