The Return of FeralX

Hello all - and sorry for bumping an old thread LOLOL , but you will know soon why...

I am Back (for a while)... Sorry for leaving so abruptly - but I ended up getting a real JOB ...

I am now a "professional" fulltime C# programmer !! :D

Anyhow, the other day I was given a task to code up some visual effects that required rotating images, and it occured to me that I never did finish off the "Sprite Editor" I promised you guys...

As I am now quite familiar with Windows Application programming, I thought I should asked if this is still needed , becuase it's probably not that hard to do, now that I have the experience in C#

Anyhow, the question is. Is this still something that would be useful ? or has it been taken over by other tools while I was away ?

Just wanting to pay you all back for the wonderful help you guys gave me when i started out, as I am sure it help me get the new job..

Cheers
FeralX

PS: I will probably also be around dabbling in some more game making - I miss it.

As I said in the pm, the closest thing is DST's sprite rotator, but what you were aiming to do was a lot more than sprite rotation and scaling, if I recall. I'm sure lots of people would be quite happy with the completion of the sprite tool. Anyway congrats on the job, and your return. I look forward to seeing some more of your work.

Cheers

I will have a look at DSTs, though I am sure he already did a good job of it :)

I don't want to step on anyones toes though, so if there is already some one working on this, I am just as happy to leave it, it was simply a thought I had and something i owed you guys..

I believe the other thing I was working on was some sprite effects, I will have to find the old code and see how far I got.

anyhow... will talk more when I get some feedback..

PS: DST, feel free to pm me if want

DST's rotation is great, but the environment it was build in is pretty limited, while yours has a really neat graphic user interface that's user-friendly!
I'd use this program over what's out there :)

That program would be great help for developing games! :)

And I'm very glad you are here again, though I haven't been there when you was.. xD
What I mean is I've looked through your works, the 3D engines and stickTo function and all that, it's very impressive work! :D

But why didn't you use your old feral account?

I guess I should clear that up , as some may be wondering.
To be perfectly honest, I simply forgot my password, and the "I forgot my Password" link doesn't currently work properly, so I simply reregistered....

Hi All

Just an update, it is taking a bit longer then I thought it would, as I don't have as much of the original (first attempt) source files as I thought ( changed computers too many times...) and.. I am only doing this on weekends.

Anyhow, I am now upto, if not passed the point I was last time I did this( and this one will have a lot more options/tools :))
, but I suspect it won't be ready for beta testing for at least a few more weekends.. just thought I would let you know it is still coming.

feel free to PM me if you want to be a beta tester, but don't be surprised if I don't get back to you for a few more weeks.

Also, don't worry too much about responding to this thread, PM me if you want to, but we may as well wait until I actually have the full version out before posting too many questions etc.

PS: there used be tutorials, or maybe in the help file, that described things like how to make a srpite sheet for Game-editor, and things about transparancies etc, Sorry but I can't seem to find them (it's been awhile) could someone point me the right direction ? I want to make sure the sheets created with this tool are right.

I know what you're talking about, so far I've found this in the documentation:

Notes:
- If the image file has a color depth lower than 32 bits, Game Editor understands that the color of the first pixel (upper left corner) is the color that should become totally transparent in the image.
- If your image has 32 bits color depth, Game Editor will consider the alpha channel (transparency channel) of the image.
- If your image is a gif, Game Editor will consider the gif transparent color.
- If all pixels in the image have the same color (solid image) the image will be consider solid.

But I don't think that's what you wanted. I'll keep looking

Guys

the first "rough" beta test is ready, but i forgot you can't attach files to PMs.

So for those of you wanting to test it either PM me with a " real " email ( you can make one up just for this if you want, it doesn't have to be your actual real email, just a temp one i can send executables to) , and or suggest another way to get the executable files out to you..

I really don't want to post the exe here for general discussion yet... as it is still a bit rough.

note: the current file "zipped" is only about 200k
It requires .NET 2.0 to run, which should be on all PC's since Vista...

if you have XP or earlier and you do not know about Dot Net requirements feel free to pm me.
