this is a mini demo of the game.. basically just the technical testbed

i was hoping to have a first level by now, but it's taking longer then i thought .....
anyway i have to take a break for a few days from this, so thought i would post a mini demo..

it does have bugs..!

at this point I really need feedback on the controls, and any graphics you do or don't like, as i will be redoing nearly ALL the graphics for this, as i am not happy with most of them, :? but if there are some you like / or really hate..let me know.

controls are
left and right- to speed up/slow down ( you can't stop)
up -key to jump
x -shoots forward facing short range RPG
z -shoots upward facing SAM

it currently has no lives - if you die, you have to restart the game...

the aim is to destroy mines if possible ( eventually it will score higher then jumping them)
jump any holes, and kill any aliens if possible

(coming soon more hole types, rocks, obstacles, and other alien types )

currently no scoring system, or sound effects, - those too coming soon

Yeah i can think of something I hate about it! :D

Dying and having to restart....makes it so i never get a chance to look at the graphics anyway. But i like the tank itself. (as i recall from the arcade machine, it is referred to as a tank)

Also windowed is better than fullscreen. Fullscreen makes my monitor scream. Only with GE games.....

Yeah i know, my monitor is old. :evil:

Guys

I found the source code for this amongst my old backups

just posting it now, I believe it has potential, but I will never finish it.. so it is free for anyone to take over and or borrow ideas from - Some of the graphic ideas are worth stealing :) err borrowing :lol: feel free

or form a group and collaborate on it :wink:

All graphics except the rocks are mine (I think) check with me if you want them and are not sure..

note: I have slowed the frame rate down to 20fps so it is a bit more playable if it is too slow, simply change the frame rate :)

(hint: go real slow the first few seconds or you willl be hit by a falling bomb, then speed right up to jump two mines,) if it is too hard simply move the mines somewhere else :)

I don't know how to fix it to autorestart so, unfortunately you still have to restart the entire game if you crash the buggy..sorry it's been a long time since I coded in GE

if anyone can at least fix the restart after crashing, so the demo works better that would be cool, in the mean time if you want to test it, and it goes too fast simply lower the frame rate more..or turn off collisions etc

I hope I do this right - it's been awhile
