Here is some more joy as I am now starting the September tournament! First off I would like to congratulate last month's winner, Jagmaster. for his game Mine-Bot.
This theme was chosen by voters like last month and will be the last that is chosen by voters for a while. This month's theme was star. This is a bit broad. You could do any type of star you want. The five pointed star, the giant plasma balls in space (does not have to be the Sun either, could be for example, the Red hyper-giant VY Canis Majoris, or a dwarf star, or a supernova. More ideas is, you don't have to do the Sun as it is now; you could make it a red giant as it is now, or a neutron star, or the theoretical dark-energy star, or dark-matter star, but don't go as broad as star-ship or anything with star in it that isn't a type of star as we know. You could do stars as in famous people on Earth too). I expect to see a lot in this tournament as there was a lot of votes for the September theme pick. My goal for the game community is to have at least five enter this tournament.
A new thing has been added to this grading rubric by the way that you will notice when you do look at it. Also, I went back to the rule of no judges allowed to enter the tournament. I was thinking and thought, they could cheat and give everyone else bad scores, since they can't rate their own, and not all point of views get to judge their game. Sorry for inconveniences. Also I meant to release this yesterday, but didn't get to, and I wanted better games (not saying the past games were bad), so I am extending the deadline and shortening the Judge Week. Hope you have a good time and let us move on to the grading rubric. Oh yeah, and also, if you get less then five points on the theme average, you automatically are disqualified. Also, a new rule on graphics. I realized it is unfair to make it where people that are not good at making them suffer, so I made it where you are allowed to have another person make them for you, but you must credit them in the game, and if you want one from the internet for points, you must ask them personally via email, and credit them in the game.
This is the September Tournament grading rubric:
Theme- x/10 (how well did they follow the theme of this month?)
Originality- x/10 (is this a new type of game, or one you see everywhere?)
Creativity- x/10 (Do they use elements of their game in a unique way that enhances game-play?)
Graphics- x/10 (Do the graphics appeal you to the game? Do they make the game-play enhanced? Do they fit the mood of the game?)
music/sound- x/10 (Higher than previous tournaments. Does the music make you feel the mood of the game? Does it enhance game-play? Does sound fit the animation?)
NEW_Title- x/10 (This either gets 0, 5, or ten points. If it is appealing, give it five points. If it is matching the game, give it five points. If both, ten, if none, zero.)
Game-play- x/20 (Higher than previous tournaments. Does it have replay value? Is it enjoyable to play? Are the controls smooth? Is the difficulty good?)
Overall- x/20 (How did you feel about the game as a whole?
Total Points Accumulated- x/100 (Higher than previous tournaments. Add up the separate game-play elements above to get your score.)
Master Score- x/100j (j=amount of judges) (This is the score the Master Judge will find by adding up all of the judges' final score.)
Bonus1: Trailer- x/10 (This is optional, but this can give you bonus points if you add it. How much hype does this give your game?)
Bonus2: Black-hole- x/10 (How do you use this to enhance game-play, and follow the theme still?
Master Bonus- x/20j (j=amount of judges) (This is the Bonus score the Master Judge will find by adding up all of the judges' final Bonus Score.)
As always, I will mention that bonus points do not add up on the Final Score of the game, and is just a tie-breaker. The tie-breaker is only used if two contestants have an equal Master Score, and a winner must be decided by how much bonus points each got. Whoever got more bonus points wins. If there is still a tie, then it is up to the Master Judge on how a winner will be decided.
You may submit already made games, or games you made during the time of this tournament. The deadline is September 24th at 11:59:59 p.m Central Standard time. After that time, no more games will be accepted. Judge week is September 25th to the 28th, and people who got third to first will be announced September 29th to the 30th. JUDGES, DO NOT RELEASE RATINGS UNTIL AFTER THE TOURNAMENT IS OVER AND PEOPLE PERSONALLY ASK FOR THEIR RATINGS! DOING SO WILL RESULT IN A THREE MONTH SUSPENSION FROM THESE TOURNAMENTS! Also, do not judge until judge week.
If you would like to become a judge, pm me, tell me on this topic, or if you see me on chat, tell me there.
Next tournament starts October 2nd. Holiday Season tournament part 1 starts October 1st.
HAVE FUN!
